“My Community” Photo Competition

Rochdale Boroughwide Housing (RBH) Communities First Awards closing date is 28 September; RBH want to hear about any adult or young person who gives up their own time doing voluntary work that benefits people living on council estates. If you know someone who deserves some recognition send in your nomination to RBH now. Award winners receive £50.

“My Community” Photo Competition has a closing date of 11 September. Take a photo to show what makes your community special. There are prizes of £75, £50 and £25 up for grabs for adults and children.

Walk the Dog photo contest

Walk the Dog hosted ‘Dressed to the K9′s’, a dog fancy dress photo competition to celebrate International Day of the Dog (IDOD). The winner was Toby, a Cocker Spaniel, dressed as John McEnroe. Runner up was Riley, a multi-pedigree, as Minnie Mouse. The competition was judged by Barbara Broccoli OBE, Producer of the James Bond films and owner of WTD pet, Shadow. The event raised over £120 for Every Chance Rescue.

Photo competition coordinator

Do you love working with images and photographers? Come help us coordinate our annual photo competition!

We are looking for an intern to work 3-4 days per week from January-May 2010 from our Amsterdam office to coordinate our annual photo competition (see http://www.foei.org/en/get-involved/photo). Tasks involve liaising with photographers, uploading photos to our judging site, and organizing entries in an excel sheet.
This position could be extended into a regular volunteer position helping with our photo library (this includes captioning and keywording, photo research for our publications and for our member groups and external contacts.)

Fodor’s Partners with Tourism Ireland for “Show Us Your Ireland” Photo Contest

Fodor’s Travel and Tourism Ireland announce the co-sponsorship of a travel photography contest, “Show Us Your Ireland.” From August 17 through September 21, visitors to Fodors.com will have the opportunity to upload and share their favorite photos and experiences of the Emerald Isle with other travelers. One grand prize winner will have his or her photograph featured in the next edition of Fodor’s Ireland and will receive a suite of Fodor’s latest full-color guides. Ten runners up will win two Fodor’s guides of their choice and all winning photos will be featured in an online gallery at Fodors.com.
